UBC Inc. is an engineering firm with broad interests in advanced electromagnetics technology. Our focus includes target detection & tracking, missile guidance & control, and aerospace communications.
UBC has a rich history in radar development. We specialize in the design, development, & production of antennas, control systems, radomes, and gimbal systems. The engineering staff brings deep expertise in analytical & computer modeling of electromagnetic & sensor system phenomena, development of tracking & guidance systems, advanced MMW & IR sensors, and unique radar component & RF subsystem approaches for a variety of applications.
Since its founding in 1980, UBC has successfully completed over 100 contracts for various government agencies and aerospace primes for concept definition, analysis, design, prototyping, production, and test activities.
UBC has extensive experience tailoring antenna performance to specific objectives, including the analysis of asymmetric geometries and blockages. UBC was a major participant in the Army’s Longbow/Hellfire program, designing the missile seeker antenna assembly and co-developing the software used to analyze its performance. UBC supported the program with analysis & programming while collecting critical empirical data at our facilities to verify computer modeling accuracy.
UBC built upon its specialized analysis & synthesis software to design the antenna concept for the X-Rod gun-launched projectile. This system employs a small diameter, staring antenna that not only has to survive loads associated with cannon launch but also requires accommodation of hardware protruding through the antenna system. Using our proprietary software to model & evaluate candidate configurations, UBC successfully delivered a baseline design that meets all mechanical & electrical performance requirements.
UBC has also designed, analyzed, fabricated, and tested a coaxial common aperture antenna system for dual mode applications. Utilizing our patented Solid Body Antenna (SBA) collimator, the assembly integrates novel millimeter wave (MMW) technologies into a Cassegrain style configuration. Beyond our proprietary synthesis tools, UBC leverages specialized RF analysis software to model & characterize overall system performance.
Airborne threat simulators represent another core specialty for UBC. Our flight proven systems emulate cruise & anti ship missiles across platforms including US Navy BQM 34, BQM 74, and AQM 37D targets, as well as full scale USAF vehicles like the QF 4. Powered by our advanced twist reflector antenna technology, these cost effective systems deliver state of the art tracking, acquisition, guidance, and control functions.
